Pilgrimage is an ancient path of the soul. It is a journey made with intention, where travel becomes sacred and the landscape becomes a teacher. Pilgrims step away from ordinary rhythms to walk toward places where the heart can listen more deeply for God.

At Hineni, pilgrimage is not simply about reaching a destination. It is about allowing the journey itself to shape us through silence, beauty, community, and sacred reflection.

Hineni - What it Means

God calls, “Where are you?” We answer, “Hineni. Here I am.”

Hineni (pronounced hee-NAY-nee) is a Hebrew expression meaning “Here I am.” It is more than announcing our location. It is a response of presence and willingness: I am here. I am listening. I am ready.

Hineni welcomes men and women into sacred spaces of Scripture, silence, prayer, reflection, and community. Together, we practice becoming present to God and consenting to God’s transforming work within us.

No previous experience with contemplative prayer is needed. Simply come with a willing heart and say, “Here I am.”

Why we retreat

We believe spiritual formation is solitary work that cannot be done alone. Gathering retreats give participants the opportunity to detach from hectic and fragmented lives and rest in a sacred safe space as they engage alone in small doses of solitude, silence, and stillness, within a supportive Christian community.
